(MENAFN – Gulf Times) The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), in collaboration with the Losail Circuit Sports Club and under the supervision of the International Motorcycling Federation (IWF), has completed all preparations for hosting the Barwa Grand Prix of Qatar round of MotoGP -World Championship 2021, which starts on Friday and lasts three days in the floodlit oasis of the Losail International Circuit with the participation of the most famous world champions.
The Vice President and General Manager of the Losail Circuit Club, Khalid Al Rumaihi, confirmed the circuit’s full readiness to host the opening round of the MotoGP World Championship, referring to the great trust of the IMF and the Dorna Group, the championship’s official title sponsor, the ability of State of Qatar to host major sporting events.
In a press release, Al Rumaihi said that the state of Qatar has repeatedly demonstrated its great abilities in organizing sporting events with a high level of proficiency in all circumstances, noting that Qatar has been used to this for 14 years Align championship.
He stated that QMMF and Losail Circuit Sports Club, in collaboration with the Department of Health, will be using a health protocol during the championship.
He stressed that this health protocol has proven to be very effective so far, noting that all participants in the event are constantly monitored and checked to ensure the safety of everyone, including the drivers, organizers, officials and volunteers.
For the fourteenth consecutive year, Doha will host the first opening round of the World Championship in the MotoGP, Moto 2 and Moto 3 classes for men.
The opening race activities begin tonight with official photos of the three classes. A press conference will be held with the participation of the world’s most famous MotoGP champions to discuss their preparations for the 19-round World Championship season.
The first day’s competitions officially begin on Friday at 2:50 p.m. with a 30-minute free training session for Moto 3, followed by a 25-minute training session for Moto 2 at 3:45 p.m. and another 25-minute training session for MotoGP at 4:40 p.m. Before the second free qualifiers for the three classes take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Barwa Grand Prix of Qatar, the opening round of the MotoGP World Championship 2021, is attended by the world’s most famous riders who are fully prepared for the competition.
The competition in the strongest class, MotoGP, will be between world champion Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Australian Ducati rider Jack Miller, who had a record time of 1: 53.183 in the pre-season test, Yamaha’s rider French Fabio Quartararo and the Spaniards played Maverick Vinales and the Italian Valentino Rossi from the Petronas Yamaha MotoGP team.
All teams have been arriving in Doha since the end of February and beginning of March, where they have participated in the preseason test for the three classes organized by the Losail Circuit over the past few weeks, as part of the preparations for the new season and the adaptation to the weather in Doha , especially at night as the Doha lap is the only one that is floodlit in 19 laps throughout the season.
Three young Qatari riders, namely Yousif Darwish, Hamad Al Sohoti and Saad Al Harqan, are competing in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup 2021, hosted by Doha in conjunction with the MotoGP World Championship and overseen and organized by the Dorna Group, which is the World Championship organization receives rights.
