TEAM SUZUKI ECSTAR READY TO TAKE ON THE ANDALUCIA GP

Just a few days after the opening lap of the 2020 MotoGP season, the teams and drivers are preparing again to drive for the so-called Andalusian GP on the Circuit of Jerez – Angel Nieto.

The first race of the season was not easy for the Suzuki Ecstar team after Alex Rins was sidelined on Saturday with a shoulder injury and Joan Mir suffered an unfortunate fall on Round 2 of the Grand Prix.

But the team has recovered and is feeling positive ahead of this weekend’s race, especially as the conditions seem very similar with scorching hot temperatures and bright sunshine. Both Rins and Mir said they felt comfortable and fast on their 2020 GSX RRs, which was reflected in their lap times while preparing for the Spanish GP. It is to be hoped that this trust will be passed on from the beginning on Friday morning.

Rins’ participation over the weekend remains uncertain, however. With the help of the local medical community and his own physical therapist, he has undergone various treatments, including magnetotherapy and positive pressure therapy, and is getting better every day. He will have another check-up on Thursday and a final decision will be made on Friday morning when doctors will explain if he is suitable for the race.

Davide Brivio – Team Manager:

“We are ready to start a new race weekend and hopefully have a much better one than last week. Our two drivers showed a strong pace during the preparation for the Spanish GP, but the way it ended was just unfortunate. We hope Alex is back on the right track. He worked very hard to get back to fitness in time. Joan wants to keep working on a few things but he knows he can bring home a strong finish. “

Alex Rins:

“On Sunday morning the pain was really bad and the doctors agreed that there was no way I could race. Since then I have had a lot of treatment and also take care of rest and recovery. I’m working very hard to be ready to drive on Friday morning, but we have to double-check everything and do some tests before then. My feeling on the last weekend before the crash was very good, so I really hope to get back on my GSX-RR and get some useful points. I want to thank the fans for their great support these days. “

Joan Mir:

“I’m really happy to have another chance this weekend to get a good result. Last week I felt strong in almost every session and it was a shame to end a good weekend with a DNF. I want to improve my qualifying performance and my race starts, but overall I feel very good with the bike and it’s great to keep up the momentum from last week and get back on track. “
