ALEIX ESPARGARÓ CONFIRMED APRILIA WITH A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT FOR THE MOTOGP SEASONS 2021 AND 2022

ALEIX ESPARGARÓ: “We have grown a lot. I believe in this project and am happy to stay to be able to take APRILIA where we deserve it. “

Aleix Espargaró will also be an Aprilia Racing driver for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. With great satisfaction on both sides, this confirms one of the longest current MotoGP associations.

At the RS-GP since the 2017 season, Aleix has survived different phases of the Aprilia MotoGP project, from the big and promising growth in the first season, to the difficulties of 2018, to the technical revolution of 2019 that led to the birth of the new 2020 RS GP

The latest prototype showed significant and promising signs of competitiveness in winter testing prior to the 2020 season interruption, so they contributed to Aleix’s decision.

Passionate, always dedicated on the track and a motivator in the garage, this will bring Aleix to his sixth straight season on the Italian motorcycle. This is a sign of continuity and trust that comes at this turning point in Aprilia’s technical project.

“I am pleased about this confirmation. The human aspect is extremely important to me and in four seasons Aprilia has become my second family. With this contract, which is certainly the most important of my career, you have shown that I am at the center of this project. On a technical level, I’ve been won over by the growth in recent months with the arrival of many reinforcements and the debut of the 2020 RS-GP, which did so well in the tests. I think we have to finish the job we started over the winter. I can’t wait to get back with all of my team and ride the new bike to get this project to where it deserves it. “

MASSIMO RIVOLA – CEO of APRILIA RACING

“We definitely wanted the confirmation from Aleix and are very happy that it has arrived. At a time that is quite turbulent for the driver market, it is important to ensure continuity for our project with a driver of the Aleix caliber. With him, who we have established as our captain, we have started a completely new project that includes new resources and takes a bike that seems to have come onto the track very well. Now we hope he’ll soon take an Aprilia to the top where it has never been in MotoGP history. “
