Next stop at Spanish GP for the Repsol Honda Team

After an emotional return to MotoGP at Portimao, Marc Marquez’s rehabilitation continues at Jerez as Pol Espargaro tries to make up for the preliminary round.

The MotoGP World Championship is on its way to the legendary Jerez de la Frontera for the Gran Premio Red Bull de España and is preparing for another exciting weekend. The Repsol Honda Team will be fully utilized again as Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro compete together on board the RC213V. There will be a fifth Honda this weekend when Stefan Bradl returns to the World Championship as a wildcard.

Marc Marquez sought a hero to finish seventh on his return to racing in Portugal after missing out on much of the 2020 season. At Portimao, Marquez showed that he has lost none of his aggressive style by slipping his Honda, making his signature saves and even battling for the lead of the race on the first few laps. The eight-time world champion is prepared for another challenging round as his physical condition continues to improve. While the previously broken right humerus had no issue in the last game, Marquez continues to work in the gym to improve his general fitness for racing. Marquez has scored a podium every time he finished the premier class Spanish GP with three wins.

Pol Espargaro has left the cruel blow of fate behind him that ended his GP in Portugal early and is approaching the GP in Spain with his trademark focus and optimism. The Granollers native, now ready to drive the RC213V on a third different circuit, is looking forward to driving his new machine on a well-known circuit. Espargaro’s goals for the weekend remain the same; Improve yourself throughout the weekend and fight for a better starting position on Saturday than in previous races.

The Premier Class promotion begins on Friday at 09:55 a.m. local time at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto with free practice 1 for MotoGP. The Sunday schedule returns to the traditional format with the MotoGP race after the Moto2 race at 2:00 p.m. local time.
