Unofficial times from day two of the Jerez World Superbike test
Jonathan Rea was the fastest to complete the Jerez World Superbike test for Kawasaki, while Stefan Bradl exceeded the test times for the HRC MotoGP roster.
The reigning Superbike world champion swapped top times with Alex Lowes, the front runner on the first day, for the production bikes on the Spanish track, which Bradl and the MotoGP test team from Honda came to see.
Bradl finished first in 1: 39.152 seconds, but Rea was impressed when he drove just 0.008 seconds ahead of the German driver and at record speed in warm and sunny conditions on the recently resurfaced track in Jerez.
After testing a number of 2019-specific parts on his new Kawasaki ZX-10RR, Rea rounded off his test early after completing his full 66-lap program.
Lowes drove over 100 laps for Pata Yamaha and finished third overall. Leon Haslam on the factory Kawasaki took fourth place.
Alvaro Bautista spearheaded Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s testing program on Thursday, with Chaz Davies missing most of the track action with a back injury after a serious fall at Turn 5 on the first day. Davies was still able to complete 18 laps and finish 11th overall, with Bautista in fifth with a best of 1: 39,620 minutes and 59 laps on the new V4 R.
