Pramac announces unchanged MotoGP line-up for 2022

Zarco was promoted from Avintia to Pramac for the 2021 season on fully supported Ducati factory bikes, while Jorge Martin made his MotoGP debut with the team that year.

The former has achieved three podium positions in the first six races and is 24 points behind leader Fabio Quartararo in second place in the championship.

Martin stunned the Doha Grand Prix in April when he stormed his first MotoGP pole in his second race before finishing third on the podium.

However, Martin has been out since the Portuguese GP after sustaining multiple fractures in a major training accident and will be back in action at the Catalonia GP this weekend.

Martin already had a two-year deal with Ducati, while Zarco’s spot at Pramac was all but confirmed when Ducati announced last week that it would keep Jack Miller alongside Francesco Baganaia.

Both drivers will also have Ducati factory machines in 2022.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue this project with Johann and Jorge, two guys with whom we get along very well and with whom we achieve excellent results,” said Pramac team owner Paolo Campinoti.

“Both Ducati and we believe strongly in their capabilities; we couldn’t be happier. “

Ducati Sports Director Paolo Ciabatti added: “Johann and Jorge have integrated very well into the Pramac Racing team this year.

“For this reason, we have decided together with Paolo Campinoti and Francesco Guidotti to continue it until 2022.

“We will also provide both of them with the official bikes for the coming season.

“We are sure that they will give us a lot of satisfaction.”

Ducati will put eight motorcycles on the 2022 grid for the first time since 2018 after Autosport reported that Valentino Rossi and Gresini’s VR46 team are about to sign contracts with the Italian manufacturer.

In other rider market news, KTM has added Brad Binder to its factory team for three more years from 2022 earlier this week and confirmed on Wednesday that Remy Gardner will step up from Moto2 with Tech3 next year.
