Pecco Bagnaia looks like it’s about to explode, but he’s holding back. His race couldn’t have been worse and what is certain is that neither he nor Ducati are to blame: after these two elements have been eliminated, there is only one thing left: the tires. Pecco got off to a good start, seemed ready to fight for the podium, and that is exactly what he did in the first third of the race. On lap 7 he slipped to sixth place, on lap 13 he was eighth, then disappeared further down until he crossed the finish line in fourteenth.

“It seems clear to me that something didn’t work today – Bagnaia thundered – I felt strong all weekend, in free practice I always drove with used tires and today I was three seconds slower per lap. I don’t know what happened, we still have to talk to Michelin and look at the data, but everything should be great in a championship like MotoGP. “

Other drivers also complained about the tires.

“I don’t know what happened to the others, I’m just saying that everything went well this weekend. In Austria there was a different carcass for the rear tire and there were more problems, but not here. Miller struggled yesterday in qualifying and today it happened to me, I know that Valentino also had problems. I don’t know anything else, we have to talk to Michelin ”.

So the problem wasn’t the choice of the soft rear tire …

“On the contrary, it was lucky that I used it. Quartararo dominated the race with this tire and I had driven it all weekend, even in qualifying, and had good experiences with it. The problems I had in the back because the bike pulled away from me when entering a curve. We already checked the pressure and it was correct.

Now Quartararo is far away in the overall standings, 70 points away …

“He hasn’t won the championship yet, but he’s got a good lead, but that doesn’t make me lose my ambition to be ahead of him. Fabio is the strongest at the moment, he is always ahead and has no problems in all conditions, but we have to think positively, even when it’s difficult: you can do the best possible job, but then something always happens in the race ”.
