MotoGP: Dixon keeps Petronas ride for Aragon, McPhee in Moto2 | MotoGP

Petronas SRT has confirmed that John McPhee will make his Moto2 debut at the next round in Aragon, while Jake Dixon will remain in MotoGP.

After missing a Moto2 ride for the past two seasons, this is McPhee’s first opportunity to show off his skills on bigger machines – something Dixon showed with good success in the premier class during the Silverstone Grand Prix weekend Has.

As was the case with Dixon before his promotion from Moto2 last weekend, it was a difficult year for McPhee in Moto3 as the Scot has so far been without a podium. It is the first time since 2014 that McPhee has completed 12 laps without a podium.

McPhee called it “a fantastic opportunity” as he replaces Malaysian driver Adam Norrodin, who substituted for Dixon at Silverstone.

McPhee said, “It’s a fantastic opportunity for me to try the Moto2 bike in Aragon. As with any rider, their dream is to move up the categories and I feel like I’m at the level and have the ability to take this step. ” up to Moto2.

“Of course the challenge will be extremely difficult because it will be my first time to ride a big bike. My only real experience was 15 laps in Barcelona in 2019, which was a ‘thank you’ from the team after my victory at Le Mans .

Both riders will take their contracted Moto2 and Moto3 seats to Aragon, while Andrea Dovizioso returns to MotoGP with Petronas Yamaha alongside Valentino Rossi, while Franco Morbidelli moves up to the Monster Energy factory team.
