“I have the opportunity to take this step into Moto2” – John McPhee

John McPhee will make his Moto2 World Championship debut next week, competing in the Aragon GP with Petronas Sprinta Racing. He has been selected to replace Jake Dixon, who has been named to MotoGP with Petronas Yamaha SRT, and will then have his first entry in the intermediate class.

The rider said in a statement that there is a good chance for him to feel ready for Moto2: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for me to try out the Moto2 bike in Aragon. As with all riders, the dream is to move up the categories and I feel like I’m at the level and have the opportunity to take that step into Moto2. Of course, the challenge will be extremely difficult because it will be the first time in my career that I will ride a big bike. My only real experience was 15 laps in Barcelona in 2019 which was a thank you from the team after my win at LeMans. I am very excited and motivated for the challenge and am really looking forward to trying out the bike.

McPhee’s goal is to make steady progress during the GP, as he said: “There are no real expectations, I’ll just enjoy and feel it when I can improve session by session and keep getting closer to the faster riders. ” it will be a good job. Many thanks to the team for this opportunity ”.
