MotoGP, THE PHOTO – Aprilia doubles the spoons in the wet

“Two is better than one” was a famous TV advertising slogan a few years ago, and that’s what the Noale technicians must have been inspired by, if you look closely at the RS-GP that Aleix Espargarò used in the wet. In fact, not one but two spoons have appeared in the lower part of the swingarm, the spoiler first introduced by Ducati a few years ago and at the center of much controversy.

It has now become a component that all manufacturers use, but there has never been two together. The front one is the “classic” spoon, that is, the one that should theoretically contribute to better cooling of the rear tire, but actually generate downforce. The second (whose paternity belongs to Yamaha) is instead a type of “nail” that is used when wet to protect the rear tire from the water that rises from the front tire.

Aprilia combined the two elements, who knows if it will catch on …
