After two DNFs, Jorge Martin finally managed to finish a race in the current MotoGP season, and then with second place in the Argentina GP. In Termas de Rio Hondo, the Pramac rider led early on, but in the final laps he was unable to resist Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia).
Despite having seen the victory narrowly escape, the #89 was pleased, not least because he considered that he carried out one of the best rounds since he was in the top class: ‘I’m super happy to finally finish a race, because of this year so far it has been a little difficult for me. But anyway, I was super consistent, always fast, and we finally ended up in a very happy position with this. I think it was one of the best weekends of my MotoGP career so far because I worked really hard, I was super consistent, and in the race I left everything on track’.
According to Martin, these were harsh conditions in which, even knowing that Espargaro was faster, he did not stop trying to stay in the lead. In the end, he ended up being happy for the rival who made his debut to win: ‘It was difficult because the conditions were very hot. I knew Aleix was a little faster, but I tried to keep him behind. I was a little better on braking, but he was unbelievable on other parts of the track. I’m super happy for him because he’s a great friend of mine. I’m glad he beat me in this race’.
