‘I was about to return in 2020, but…’ – Jorge Lorenzo

In 2019, Jorge Lorenzo decided to put an end to his MotoGP career. He later became a test rider for Yamaha and was appointed to Aprilia, but he doesn’t want to and has never returned to the field full time – although he had the chance to do so.

To RTVE, the three-time MotoGP champion told RTVE that he doesn’t think about returning to active duty: ‘When you leave for a relatively long period, it’s already three years, you lose almost everything – your reflexes, your physique, your ambition, your competitiveness… and also I don’t want to, I’ve done what I had to do’.

Lorenzo admitted that in 2020 he was about to return to competition and explained why he didn’t: ‘I was about to return in 2020, but I was left behind because the closer I got to the moment of signing the contract, the more I thought about the negative moments. than the positive. And I don’t regret the decision’.
