Miguel Oliveira’s real options to continue in MotoGP in 2023

This Sunday morning, Gresini Racing confirmed the stay of Fabio Di Giannantonio and the arrival of Alex Marquez for the next season. With this announcement there are less places for whoever is still looking for a bike to ride in 2023, with one of the main names in the riders market, Miguel Oliveira, who was touted as a possibility to head to the Ducati satellite team are definitely now over.

With the lineup of riders getting more and more defined for the next season, Miguel Oliveira’s chances are also starting to decrease. The rider has already guaranteed more than once that it will take place next season, but the announcement of a renewal with KTM or a change to Aprilia is late in coming.

According to everything that has already been said about the year 2023 for Oliveira, the portuguese seems to have two paths available: either he renews his contract with KTM and moves to Tech3, the team for which he won his first two victories, or he signs a contract with Aprilia to compete for the RNF that next season will be a satellite team of the Italian structure.

Regardless of what he decides, the future passes for a satellite team as all the factory teams already have their rider line-up set, with the exception of Jack Miller’s successor at Ducati. Overall, the 2023 grid at this stage looks like this:

Aprilia Racing: Aleix Espargaro/Maverick Vinales
Ducati Lenovo team: Francesco Bagnaia/Jorge Martin or Enea Bastianini
Gresini Racing MotoGP: Fabio Di Giannantonio/Alex Marquez
LCR Honda: Alex Rins/Ai Ogura ou Takaaki Nakagami (still lacking official confirmation on both riders)
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP: Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli
Mooney VR46 Racing Team: Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi
Prima Pramac Racing: Johann Zarco/Jorge Martin or Enea Bastianini
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing: Brad Binder/Jack Miller
Repsol Honda Team: Marc Marquez/Joan Mir (there is no confirmation regarding Mir)
Tech3 KTM Factory Racing: Pol Espargaro or Remy Gardner or Miguel Oliveira (neither rider has yet signed or official confirmation weren’t made at this point)
