Valentino Rossi's VR46 Racing Team moves to Yamaha in 2024, says Jorge Viegas

Valentino Rossi’s Mooney VR46 Racing Team entered MotoGP this year as a Ducati satellite team. The results were strong, including a podium and a pole position in his rookie season. However, the future should pass by Yamaha in 2024 – according to the president of the FIM, Jorge Viegas.

Speaking to RAI TV, the newly re-elected federative leader revealed this change from the italian structure to the Iwata manufacturer in 2024 – this when he was called to comment on the fact that in 2023 there are eight Ducatis and only two Yamahas in the field :

– I don’t think this situation is particularly good, but it will only be for 2023. In 2024, Valentino Rossi’s team will switch from Ducati to Yamaha, for now it’s an idea and nothing is confirmed, but I’m sharing some news . There will be six Ducatis and four Yamahas.

The fact is that this change makes perfect sense. On the one hand, Ducati itself has already admitted that having eight bikes (six of them in satellite teams) is not the most ideal situation – just as it is not for the championship, which aims for all manufacturers to supply an independent team and that will not happen. in 2023 with Yamaha.

On the other hand, Rossi himself was, throughout his career as a rider, a figurehead of the Japanese manufacturer, and it is not illogical that the team he directs should collaborate with him.
