Josh Herrin won the second MotoAmerica Supersport race of the weekend Sunday at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, officials said. Herrin took the lead on lap nine, opened a 1.490-second gap over Darryn Binder, and set a new Supersport lap record en route to victory, with Tyler Scott finishing third.
Herrin, riding the Ducati Panigale V2 for Rahal Ducati Moto with Desnuda Organic Tequila, made his decisive move on lap nine to take the lead from a tightly contested group of four riders, officials said. After taking command, he steadily increased his advantage, crossing the finish line 1.490 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Darryn Binder. Binder, who competed for Celtic/Economy Lube + Tire/Warhorse’s Ducati team, held on to secure the runner-up position, while Tyler Scott finished third aboard a Suzuki for M4 ECSTAR Suzuki, according to MotoAmerica’s official race report titled “Herrin Bounces Back Over Binder In Supersport Showdown.”
Herrin also set a new Supersport lap record during the race, posting a fastest lap time of 1:27.554, according to MotoAmerica.
The race took place Sunday at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and was identified as the second Supersport event of the weekend as part of Round 2 of the 2026 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship. The event featured a highly competitive battle among the lead group for much of the race before Herrin broke clear, officials said.
Behind the top three, Kayla Yaakov finished fourth riding for Rahal Ducati Moto with Droplight, while Maximiliano Gerardo of Altus Motorsports took fifth place, according to the official race results. The lead group consisted of Herrin, Binder, Scott, and Yaakov for much of the race, demonstrating close competition before Herrin’s decisive pass.
MotoAmerica’s report emphasized the quality of the duel between Herrin and Binder, noting Herrin’s victory as a bounce-back win over Binder. The 1.490-second margin at the finish indicated a controlled pace after Herrin secured the lead. The new lap record underscored the speed at the front of the field during the contest.
Josh Herrin is a former Supersport champion, having won the title in 2022, according to MotoAmerica records. His win at Road Atlanta strengthened his early-season position in the 2026 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship standings. Official points standings posted by MotoAmerica show Herrin among the leaders with 25 points in one Supersport classification snapshot following the event.
