It is unusual to see Fabio Quartararo make big mistakes but, like all his rivals, the Frenchman is not immune to error and this year’s Assen race was a case in point.
Early in the race, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider lost control of his bike and caught his rival Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) almost immediately in front – unintentionally apologizing after the race.
The incident in question was also in a round that marked a turning point in the championship: Quartararo was leading the championship by a wide margin and with the retirement and victory of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) a recovery began for #63, who was previously 91 points off the pace.
