Mathew Scholtz and Bobby Fong won the opening two Superbike races at the 2026 MotoAmerica Speedfest held April 17-19 at Road Atlanta. Cool winds and overcast skies influenced race conditions during the season’s first round, officials said.
Riding a Yamaha, Scholtz finished 6.630 seconds ahead of Sean Dylan Kelly of OrangeCat Racing, who competed on a BMW. Cameron Beaubier of Warhorse HSBK Ducati, a six-time Superbike champion, overcame a challenging start from the seventh row following a qualifying crash to claim third place. Cameron Petersen of Wrench Motorcycles finished fourth on a Ducati Panigale V4 R, with Jayson Uribe of OrangeCat Racing completing the top five, according to race results.

The second Superbike race on Sunday featured a close contest between Bobby Fong of Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing and Scholtz. Fong overtook Scholtz with two laps remaining to win by 2.921 seconds. Scholtz finished second, maintaining a 6.270-second lead over third-place Blake Davis of Strack Racing, who rode a Yamaha YZF-R9. JD Beach, also of Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha, finished fourth after recovering from a mechanical failure that resulted in a did-not-finish (DNF) in Race 1. Beaubier secured fifth place after starting from 20th on the grid and overtaking Petersen on lap six, according to official race timing and reports.
The weekend’s conditions were marked by cool winds and overcast skies, which influenced track performance and race strategies, officials noted. The event spanned April 17-19, with qualifying taking place on Friday and racing on the following two days. Road Atlanta, also known as Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, hosted the first round of the 2026 MotoAmerica Superbike season, featuring six competitive classes including Quad Lock Superbike, Supersport, Mission King Of The Baggers, Twins Cup, Talent Cup, and Royal Enfield Build.Train.Race, according to MotoAmerica event details.
Following the Road Atlanta races, Scholtz leads the Superbike championship standings with 45 points, according to official records. Kelly holds second place with 36 points, while Beaubier ranks third with 27 points. Fong is fourth with 25 points, and Petersen rounds out the top five with 23 points. In the Supersport category, Josh Herrin leads with 61 points on Ducati, followed by Darryn Binder with 58 points and Tyler Scott with 56 points, according to MotoAmerica standings.
The event also included family-oriented activities and camping options, with RV check-in beginning Thursday at 1 p.m., event organizers said. The Speedfest emphasized the thrill of 190 mph Superbike racing alongside a festival atmosphere. Qualifying crashes impacted some riders, including PJ Jacobsen of Rahal Ducati, who suffered a concussion during qualifying and withdrew from the weekend’s competition, officials confirmed.
Additional classes featured strong competition, with Kensei Matsudaira leading the Twins Cup on a Kramer motorcycle, and Nathan Gouker topping the Mission King Of The Baggers class, also on a Kramer. The Junior Cup champion is Andrew Lee with 189 points on BMW, while Alessandro Di Mario leads the Talent Cup with 254 points on Kramer. The Stock 1000 class is tightly contested, with Hayden Gillim leading with 82 points on Indian, narrowly ahead of Troy Herfoss, who has 81 points, according to season standings.
