Suzuki presents a new MotoGP livery to celebrate 60 years of racing – Motorsport Week

Suzuki has unveiled a brand new paint job for its 2020 GSX-RR MotoGP machine to celebrate 60 years of racing for the brand made up mostly of silver and blue.

The new paint scheme is a throwback to Suzuki’s first international racing appearance – 1960 on the Isle of Man TT – and will be carried out throughout the season.

Alex Rins and Joan Mir will continue to compete with the GSX-RR for the second time in a row. Rins wants to add more trophies to Suzuki’s cabinet and explains that he is able to “manage a race, especially when I am leading or fighting” should benefit him.

“Last season gave me one of the most exciting feelings in the world about winning my first MotoGP race,” said Rins.

“It was a dream come true and the second win felt amazing too. I will bring these emotions with me by 2020 and the awareness of the growth that I have made.

“One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is how to better manage a race, especially when I’m leading or fighting.

Now in 2020 we have to stay focused and achieve good results, certainly more podiums and hopefully more wins. I believe this is the path to success: step by step, step by step, with hard work together. “

Meanwhile, in his second MotoGP campaign, Mir wants to lead the fight to his more experienced teammate more often. The 18-year-old Moto3 world champion, feeling his strong finish by 19, should allow him to make the progress he needs for a new season.

“Certainly my expectations for 2020 are much higher than last year because I am no longer a newcomer,” said Mir.

“We finished last season on the right track, with consistent improvements that helped me overcome the difficulties caused by the crash in Brno and that led me to some very positive races at the end of the season.

“The first year was a year of learning, the MotoGP machine is such a beast you have to learn how to control it, and I had great support from my entire team. Now I want to build on my experience and put my name among the top drivers. ”

Suzuki returned to the premier class in season 15 with Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales. The latter took the Japanese manufacturers’ first podium since their comeback at the French Grand Prix in 16.

He took a win at Silverstone later that year, while Rins added two more wins to Suzuki’s record at the US GP and last year’s British GP.
