Autosport Podcast: How world motorsport is reacting to coronavirus

As the outbreak of COVID-19 continues to envelop the world, more sporting events – and particularly – motorsport are being hit hard by the fallout from the situation.

Since the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix was postponed, MotoGP has lost the first four rounds of its 2020 season to travel restrictions and the countrywide quarantine in Italy.

Formula E’s Sanya race had to be cancelled, while the maiden race in Jakarta and the Rome E-Prix have been postponed to later dates.

The Australian GP is going ahead, though concerns over whether it was the right decision or not are continuing to rise as three F1 team members were forced into self-isolation after undergoing tests for coronavirus.

The Bahrain GP will be run behind closed doors, while Vietnam looks heavily in doubt.

Some series have been more proactive than others, while criticism has been levelled at others for their responses.

With the situation changing day by day, it can be hard to keep up.

On the latest episode of the Autosport Podcast – which is a joint edition with Tank Slappers and Current Affairs – Autosport’s Formula E Correspondent and Magazine Editorial assistant Matt Kew is joined by Autosport Technical Editor Jake Boxall-Legge and Autosport International Editor Lewis Duncan to discuss the impact coronavirus is having on motorsport at the moment.

*Just a note: this episode was recorded a day before MotoGP’s latest calendar reshuffle and the news of those three F1 team personnel being tested for COVID-19.
