MotoGP test in Qatar: Miller turns the tables on Quartararo

The all-time lap record at Losail was initially courtesy of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Quartararo, but Miller hit back late to go even faster.

Maverick Vinales finished two Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP bikes in the top three in P3, albeit a few tenths further down.

Fortunately for all drivers and teams, the second stage of the Qatar test was greeted by the best weather conditions since the paddock landed in Doha.

The wind did not cause any problems, the sun was shining before sunset and the drivers hardly wanted to start again after two days on the sidelines.

At Ducati, Miller stole the headlines again, but after Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) saw the factory riders test the fascinating new Ducati Aero, he whirled it up earlier.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) finished day 3 in P9 as the third fastest Desmosedici rider on the track, doing 51 laps as he ended the day 1.053 seconds behind Miller’s time.

Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Franco Morbidelli and Valentino Rossi both finished in the top 10 as the Italians ended the day 1.1 and 1.4 seconds behind the best times, respectively.

In the meantime, Pol Espargaro’s adaptation to the Honda continues to be seamless. The Spaniard was in the lead at noon and finally snuck into the 1:53 on his third day on the RC213V. The number 44 is already half a second behind Marc Marquez ‘official lap record in Qatar.

The penultimate day of pre-season testing begins on Thursday (March 11) at 4:30 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. IST).

The season opener of the FIM MotoGP World Championship 2021 – the Barwa Grand Prix of Qatar – will take place on March 28th in Losail.

The Indian audience can follow the action from the qualifying race the day before live on Eurosport and Eurosport HD. The same is streamed LIVE on Discovery +.
