Honda launches three new flagship motorcycles for 2020

Honda is launching three new premium motorcycle models for 2020 in Malaysia.

Petaling Jaya, Jan 12, 2020 – Boon Siew Honda is raising the bar for the premium motorcycle market in Malaysia with the launch of three new flagship motorcycle models this year.

Malaysia is the first country in the Asia and Oceania region to receive these 2020 flagship models, according to Keiichi Yasuda, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Boon Siew Honda.

Models include 2020 Honda CBR1000 RR-R Fireblade SP, 2020 Honda GL1800 Gold Wing, CRF1100L Africa Twin, and CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

2020 Honda CBR1000 RR-R Fireblade SP

The CBR1000 RR-R Fireblade SP has a completely new 1000cc in-line four-cylinder engine. Designed and developed by the HRC MotoGP development program, the engine can produce a peak power of 159 kW at 14,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 112.7 Nm at 12,500 rpm.

As you can see at the start, the CBR1000 RR-R SP has a semi-active Öhlins Electronic Control of the 2nd generation and an ÖHLINS TTX36 Smart-EC shock absorber. To improve stability and shock absorption at high speeds, the 43 mm Öhlins NPX fork with a pressure damping system that drastically minimizes cavitation helps to achieve these goals.

The exhaust valve designed by Akrapovic delivers significant power at high revs and torque at low revs. The lightweight titanium exhaust end socket developed in cooperation with Akropovic also significantly improves the mass centralization and the angle of inclination of the motorcycle on the right side.

In the case of the braking system, the bike has a new Brembo Stylema four-piston radial brake caliper. Larger 330mm discs that are 5mm thick will dissipate heat more efficiently. As for the rear brake caliper, the bike has the same Brembo unit as the RC213V-S. Functions such as the rear lift control and the ABS-controlled brakes work relative to the angle of inclination.

There is also a sport and track mode that is tailored to the needs of the driver. In addition, the 5-inch color TFT screen, as seen at start-up, provides intuitive control of the riding systems on the motorcycle. These are some of the features of the 2020 CBR1000 RR-R SP, among others.

The 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is available exclusively in Grand Prix Red. The price is Rm198,800.00 in Malaysia (excluding road tax, insurance and registration).

The Goldwing has a six-cylinder flat engine with four valves per cylinder. It can deliver 93 kW of power at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. From 2020, the finely tuned FI will improve drivability at low speeds. The bike has a dual clutch transmission to improve shift quality and rideability.

In the long list of functions, the Goldwing functions are equipped with a hill start assistant as standard. The wired throttle with four driving modes controls the character and performance of the engine using Honda Selective Torque Control, suspension damping and the combined double braking system. These modes include Tour, Sport, Econ, and Rain. In addition, the Goldwing has setting levels for the front and rear damping level, in which the preload of the rear spring can be electronically adjusted to the selected driving mode.

For 2020, the Honda CRF 1100L Africa Twin got smaller, slimmer and 5kg lighter to offer more aesthetic performance. The capacity of the parallel twin engine was up to 1,084 ccm by 2020. The engine now generates a peak output of 75 kW and a maximum torque of 105 Nm.

The muffler now has variable exhaust control that improves the sound at low revs and improves performance at high revs. The revised engine now generates 7% more peak power and 6% more peak torque over a wide speed range.

In addition, a six-axis inertia measuring unit controls seven levels of the torque control selectable by Honda. In addition to this 3-stage wheelie control, curve abs with off-road settings and rear lift control as well as DCT curve detection are new for 2020. The off-road driving mode complements the existing urban, tour and gravel driving modes. In addition to these standard modes, there are two customizable user settings. This allows the user to change parameters such as HSTC level, wheelie control and DCT S-mode switching pattern level.
