Viñales and Quartararo will ride for Monster Energy Yamaha in 2021

Yamaha’s factory racing team celebrated its 60th anniversary in Grand Prix racing and officially unveiled the livery and jockeys as well as the YZR-M1 racing bikes for the 2021 MotoGP season.

Maverick Viñales

Former Valentino Rossi teammate Maverick Viñales will continue to drive for Yamaha’s factory racing team this season. After an outstanding 2019 season in which he finished third overall, 2020 was only satisfactory for “MV12”, as he finished sixth overall.

This year, the 26-year-old Spaniard is confident that 2021 could actually be his best season, despite Rossi leaving the team. “I really think I’ll do everything I can to make it my best season in 2021,” said Viñales.

Fabio Quartararo

Perhaps the “next Marc Marquez”, the 21-year-old rider, entered the premier class in 2019 and drove for Yamaha’s satellite team Petronas Yamaha SRT. This promising young rider replaced The Doctor when he switched to Petronas Yamaha SRT last September.

Of course, their success also depends on an equally talented test driver. For this season, Monster Energy Yamaha will rely on the skillful driving of Cal Crutchlow, who has ridden for both MotoGP and the Superbike World Championship, to do the test driving tasks for the team.
