Honda introduces five new middleweight motorcycles at EICMA 2018

Honda unveiled its entire European motorcycle range for 2019 at EICMA in Milan, introducing two new model names and three vastly improved models that re-energize the middleweight of Honda’s uniquely broad and comprehensive range.

CB650R

After Honda unveiled the trio of nude models CB1000R, CB300R and CB125R for 2018, Honda is now bringing its unique look to the middleweight arena at the Neo Sports Café. The styling language is modern and minimalist and combines café racer inspirations and a super compact trapezoidal shape to create a striking effect. The in-line four-cylinder engine is fully exhibited, and the distinctive round headlight and molded fuel tank add to the family feel of the Neo Sports Café.

With the premium look comes premium specifications: 41mm Showa forks with reversed separate function, radially mounted four-piston front brake calipers, Honda Selectable Torque Control, Assist / Slipper clutch and state-of-the-art instruments.

The result is a desirable nude middleweight with a unique combination of looks, performance, and top-line specs.

CBR650R

Another new model name in the Honda range is the sports middleweight CBR650R.

It features a new design that relies heavily on the CBR1000RR Fireblade for its sharp, aggressive lines and elongated side panels, as well as the super-short rear section and narrow double LED headlights. The CBR650R is 6kg lighter than the CBR650F (which it replaces) and has a sportier riding position as the handlebars have been moved 30mm forward and the footpegs moved both backwards and upwards.

It’s a classic Honda in-line four-cylinder engine that revs 1,000 rpm and generates 5 percent more peak power with a peak output of 94 hp at 12,000 rpm. This ensures that the new R ‘of the new machine along with the sculpted appearance and the honed chassis designation is well deserved.

47 horsepower conversions will be available for both the CB650R and the CBR650R.

CB500F, CBR500R and CB500X

Honda’s lively 500cc parallel twin engine has been sold in over 75,000 motorcycles in Europe since its arrival in 2013.

After the engine first arrived in the license-free A2 CB500F, CBR500R and CB500X for 2019, it has more power and torque between three and seven thousand rpm and powers the light medium-weight trio in improved packages with higher specifications and more powerful roadster, Sport and adventures in identities.

All three models now have a new rear suspension, an assistant / slip clutch, full LED lighting, modernized LCD instruments with gear position and gearshift indicator, and a new silencer with two outputs for a richer engine note.

Front-to-back, the CB500F Roadster has a sharper new design with more angled nose panels and side panels that lock neatly to the fuel tank. The CBR500R has also been redesigned: it’s narrower and sharper with strong inspiration for the Fireblade design and a sportier riding position.

The compact Adventurer CB500X has a much stronger X-factor thanks to a new 19 ” front wheel, longer front and rear travel, a slimmer seat, a larger steering angle, and a tougher, more robust fairing that also improves wind protection.

The 500cc and 650cc engine platforms account for 35% of Honda’s major motorcycle sales in Europe. These five new products for 2019 offer a well-rounded balance of exciting middleweight performance for riders of all skill levels and provide potential stepping stones for Honda’s flagship roadster, adventure and sports models.

A number of other product updates were also presented at EICMA:

CBR1000RR Fireblade and CBR1000RR Fireblade SP

After a complete model change in 2017, the Next Stage Total Control of the Fireblade will be improved for 2019. Changes to his electronics package are aimed at optimal circuit performance. Therefore, HSTC and ABS have been modified and the top performance setting has been improved based on inputs from the HRC MotoGP program. The Honda Selectable Torque Control and Wheelie Control functions are now separate and there is a new W ‘display on the instrument panel.

The color Grand Prix Red has a thicker white stripe for a slightly more three-tone effect, while the Matt Ballistic Black Metallic version is now completely black except for the red CBR logo.

X-ADV

After being an instant hit when it arrived in 2017 and upgraded in 2018 with a multi-stage Honda Selectable Torque Control and a G ‘switch for more off-road gear changes from its dual clutch transmission, the 2019 Honda motorcycle SUV is now set to arrive in new colors including a striking camouflage green.

GL1800 gold wing

The Gold Wing has been synonymous with long-distance comfort, luxury and quality for over 40 years and was redesigned from the wheels by 2018 to be sharper, lighter and more compact. At the same time, it has maintained its reputation as a technology flagship with numerous new features, including the first introduction of Apple CarPlay on a motorcycle.

For 2019, both the GL1800 Gold Wing itself and the manual transmission version of the Gold Wing Tour will be available in the new, atmospheric color “Darkness Black Metallic”. The top-of-the-line Gold Wing Tour with dual clutch transmission will be available in a new Pearl Hawkeye Blue.
