This custom CBR1000RR-R SP is a worthy MotoGP replica

The Repsol Honda team is no stranger to success. With legendary riders like Mick Doohan, Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner taking world-class titles aboard factory machines, the Repsol Honda partnership has become pretty legendary in itself. Honda even released Repsol Replica CBR1000RRs to celebrate past world titles.

Despite the dominance of Marc Marquez and Repsol Honda in the series and six MotoGP championships in seven years, 2020 was not the number 93 year. In his lonely start on the grid at the Spanish Grand Prix, Marquez was very popular at Turn 3 and effectively ended his season with a broken humerus. Repsol Honda was at the bottom of the scoring for the rest of the year, but that didn’t stop a Marquez fanatic from converting the new CBR1000RR-R SP into a Repsol replica himself.

The Japan-based MotoGP superfan has commendably recreated Marquez’s 2020 RC213V. From the fluor-orange wheels to the Red Bull graphics to the iconic Repsol orange-white-red color scheme, the bespoke Fireblade would make the Ant of Cervera proud. Even with the racing paint plastered on the fairings of the SP, the owner managed to keep the recently updated superbike intact with mirrors, license bracket, lights and Akrapovic can.

Of course, this street model only led to discrepancies between the racing replica and the real McCoy. While the RC213V uses a V4 engine, Honda equipped the new Blade with a 215 hp inline quad. The different architecture undoubtedly affects the layout of the two motorcycles, and the Honda wings, clearly visible on the subframe of the RC213V, therefore don’t translate well to the flagship CBR.

Thanks to the humorous long double-decker wings, we shouldn’t compare the SP’s integrated winglets with the RC’s Mustachio appearance. These small differences aside, the self-made Repsol replica is a blast and one that deserves to wear the factory team’s colors.
