Doha: The Tissot Doha Grand Prix will be considered an instant classic as we watch history unfold again in Doha.

In a breathtaking MotoGP competition won by Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Fabio Quartararo, the Tissot Grand Prix of Doha is now hosting the next top 15 in history. Losail International Circuit has a habit of getting close results, but this time on a different scale.

8.928 seconds. That was the lead between Quartararo and Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in a wild race under the light, a gap that slightly surpasses the previous record of 15.093 seconds on the Losail International Circuit.

42 minutes of racing to see the scorers flash over the line in less than nine seconds is really ridiculous and once again shows just how incredible Grand Prix motorcycle races are in 2021.

To make it even more special, every manufacturer was in the top 15 and to be even more precise, 6.063 seconds was the gap between Yamaha, Ducati, Suzuki, KTM, Aprilia and Honda in Doha.

All six manufacturers have built very competitive machines for the best drivers in the world to challenge each other, creating an even bigger spectacle than before. And that says something.

At the first two Grand Prix this year we were awarded the first and fifth next top 15 placements in history.

The gap between Qatar GP winner Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha’s MotoGP) and Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) was 16.422 seconds, almost four-tenths larger than the Dutch GP won by Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) 2018.

It’s safe to say that MotoGP 2021 has returned with a big bang, and we’ll see some of the closest races in the world for a long time to come.
