SUZUKI Ecstar MotoGP rider Joan Mir was allowed to return home for a full week after an accident during testing in Brno and suffered internal injuries that made breathing difficult.
I crashed towards the end of the one-day test in the Czech Republic. The resulting fall resulted in him rolling through the gravel multiple times, creating a lung contusion that required him to be flown to the hospital.
Although I was initially relieved of serious injuries, the bruise remained a problem for the doctors at the FN Bohunice University Hospital in Brno.
After three days he was taken to Barcelona for further treatment and to the specialized Dexeus University Hospital, where Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP doctor and head of internal medicine, who confirmed bruising of the lungs.

“After extensive testing, including multiple CT scans, the group of doctors found that the lungs were still inflamed from the severe bruising,” Suzuki said in a statement. “So they decided to keep him and give him daily checkups to speed his recovery and avoid possible complications.
“Four days later, after a final round of testing that showed improvement, the same medical team decided to let Joan go home – where he’ll rest until another medical check-up at the same hospital next week.”

No confirmation has been given as to what caused Mir’s accident, but it is believed that a technical problem was the cause of the crash that occurred while going up into turn one at high speed.
So violent was the blow with which the bike jumped over the air fence and landed on the relief road while Suzuki claims to have found parts of Mir’s GSX-RR in the trees, such was the impact.
Although Suzuki has not used a second bike besides Alex Rins in Austria, it is contractually obliged to do this at the next event, regardless of whether I am ready to ride or not. The next British MotoGP round will take place from August 23rd to 25th. Sylvain Guintoli is the likely deputy if Mir can’t drive.
