Stefan Bradl was accompanied by Alex Marquez in Portugal to the first MotoGP test on the Portimao track. Both drivers familiarized themselves with the new route.
The Algarve International Circuit will debut on the 2020 MotoGP World Championship calendar as the final round of the series from November 20-22. Before its debut, MotoGP test riders run for two days to test the new circuit on MotoGP machines. Stefan Bradl already gained experience with the track after driving the Honda CBR1000RR there in World Superbikes in 2017, but today offered his first chance to drive the Honda RC213V at the Portuguese venue. The test gave Bradl the opportunity to refresh his memory of the circuit and work on setting up a basic setup for the RC213V before the season finale. Stefan ended the day with a best time of 1’41.726.
Alex Marquez was on the track with Bradl on the Honda RC213V-S to familiarize himself with the layout of the demanding racetrack. The laps Alex completed give the rookie some initial direction for the bike setup and allow him to spend more time fine-tuning the setup of his Repsol Honda RC213V as the race weekend kicks off. After enjoying the dramatic height differences and the roller coaster layout of the track, Alex is now back to racing.
Bradl will spend another day on the Portuguese circuit with the RC213V before heading to Le Mans for the tenth round of the MotoGP World Championship. Alex is already on the way to Le Mans, motivated to continue adapting to the MotoGP class.
