More points for the quick start Alex Marquez

The Repsol Honda Team collects more important data as the triple header in Barcelona comes to an end with more points for rookie Marquez and improvements during the race for Bradl.

Temperatures were again some of the coldest of the 2020 MotoGP season for both warm-up and the race itself. Given the conditions, a good start and a smart race would be crucial for Alex and Stefan if they wanted to fight forward.

The long walk to Turn 1 was a dream for Alex Marquez, who moved up to 11th place with his Repsol Honda Team RC213V. His strong start from 18th on the grid put Alex in the best position to battle with the likes of Crutchlow and Viñales who battled them early in the race. As in previous races, Alex was able to set consistent times throughout the race and make the most of others’ mistakes. The Moto2 world champion, who crossed the finish line in 13th place, scored points for the sixth time in 2020. Alex is one of only three riders to finish every MotoGP race this season and get the maximum amount of information from each goal during his rookie campaign.

Stefan Bradl’s Grand Prix of Catalonia got off to a compromised start, the German had to get up in turn 1 and keep running. But Bradl rallied and drove just behind Alex on lap 15 and fought for the last points with Lecuona. Towards the end of the race, Bradl had to slow down as he fought for the rear handle and finished 17th on the flag.

Takaaki Nakagami put on another stirring performance as he battled to seventh place and battled for fifth place right in front of the line. The LCR Honda Team driver is seventh overall.

After three busy weeks, the Repsol Honda Team can rest for a few days before the French Grand Prix on October 11th. Before the next race, however, Stefan Bradl will be driving the Honda RC213V ahead of the championship at the new Portimao circuit, making its debut later in the year. Alex Marquez will also take the Portimao test to learn the layout.
