Alex Rins clinched a thrilling Grand Prix win for Marc Marquez in Great Britain after Andrea Dovizioso and Fabio Quartararo were involved in a major fall on the first lap at Silverstone.
Marquez appeared ready to stop Rins and win the race for the first time since 2014, but was turned down by his Spanish compatriot in a dramatic finish.
Suzuki Ecstar rider Rins crossed the finish line on the last corner at Marquez and beat the championship leaders by 0.013 seconds to claim his second win of the MotoGP season.
Dovizioso’s last move prevented Marquez, who was struggling with tires, from reaching the top step of the podium last time in Austria, and the five-time champion couldn’t see it after a staggering late turn.

Rins pushed the Repsol Honda pole-sitter all the way and was rewarded when he made one final move and expertly left Luffield for a sweet win.
An enthusiastic Rins said: “Two laps to the end I thought it was the last lap and that’s why I overtook Marc on the straight. In the last corner I was amazing, so much faster than him. And I did it. “
Maverick Vinales worked his way through the field, finishing third ahead of his teammate Valentino Rossi, who started second.
Marquez was able to extend his championship lead to 78 points when Dovizioso was hospitalized after a severe blow to the head when he collided with Quartararo’s bike after the Frenchman fell on a nightmare start.
Dovizioso’s Ducati caught fire as his hopes of two consecutive victories faded. Quartararo also looked shocked after getting up from the gravel.
