Stefan Bradl moves to Alex Marquez in Brno, while Marc Marquez is recovering

After a heroic return just four days after the Jerez operation, Marc Marquez will miss the Brno race. Stefan Bradl will join the Repsol Honda Team alongside Alex Marquez.

The Czech GP marks the fourth round of the 2020 MotoGP World Championship and presents the first track change for the season in the MotoGP class. The 2019 Czech GP will be remembered for Marc Marquez’s incredible qualifying lap, 2.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Jack Miller. Weather forecasts point to a clear weekend in the high 20s – a change from the punishing heat of Jerez. The weekend also marks the start of MotoGP’s first triple header of the revised 2020 season, as two races at the Red Bull Ring are successful over the weekend.

After a second operation on his injured right arm, Marc Marquez and HRC have decided that the world champion will not drive in the Czech Republic so that he can recover more. In his place, HRC test driver Stefan Bradl will climb the Honda RC213V. In 2019, the former Moto2 world champion contested four MotoGP races with the best tenth place at the German GP. Bradl has achieved three top ten positions after his seven starts in the MotoGP class in Brno and only missed points once.

Alex Marquez, who won the Moto2 race last year, is excited about the Automotodrom Brno, a circuit he counts as one of his favorites on the calendar. Only one visit ended outside the top 5 since he became a full-time Grand Prix rider in 2013. Having made steady progress, especially across the track, the MotoGP rookie arrives with increased confidence to ride his Honda RC213V on the test Czech racetrack with its flowing layout. The aim is again to reduce the gap to the front and fight for the best rookie honors.
