Yamaha named official MotoGP scooter supplier for 2021

We all know that the MotoGP teams are very busy in the paddock all season long. MotoGP official Dorna is also quite busy. Running is great, but not when you’re in a particularly hurry. This is where Yamaha comes in as Team Blue just signed a new contract with Dorna to supply a fleet of scooters for the 2021 season.

At the Grand Premio 888 de Portugal for the season opening in Portimão, 25 of Yamaha’s NMAX 125 scooters were used. They will also be one of the most important pieces of equipment that Dorna carries with her from race to race throughout the year.

“Yamaha has been the official supplier of scooters to Dorna Sports and the FIM MotoGP World Championship since 2005. We are proud to see this partnership continue into 2021,” said Paolo Pavesio, Marketing and Motorsport Director of Yamaha Motor Europe, in a statement .

“Yamaha will deliver a fleet of the updated NMAX 125, a scooter that is a bestseller in both Europe and Asia with excellent agility, simple stability, generous built-in storage capacity and its sporty Yamaha DNA, and perfectly fits the requirements of the MotoGP Paddock, ”he concluded.

Of course, Dorna is also pleased about the continuation of this agreement. “We are very excited to continue our long-standing agreement with Yamaha and remain on board as the championship’s official scooter supplier,” said Porn Serracanta, managing director of Dorna Sports, in a statement.

“Yamaha delivers high quality, reliable scooters for Dorna employees that can be used in the MotoGP paddock and makes the logistics for running the world’s fastest motorcycle world championship much more efficient. I’m really looking forward to driving one of the new NMAX scooter fleets, as are all of our local colleagues, ”he concluded.

There’s no word on whether anyone will ever ride these scooters against each other at any point during the season, but we hope they do at some point.
