Marquez takes the # 8ball with an incredible win in the last corner in Thailand

Marc Marquez was crowned MotoGP World Champion 2019 the only way he can: with a thrilling race win in the last corner.

A full house on the Buriram Circuit was rewarded with a head start on the MotoGP race when Marc Marquez was crowned world champion for the eighth time. From the grid, Marquez stormed forward and immediately began chasing pole setter Fabio Quartararo. With his only title rival Andrea Dovizioso, a distant fourth Marquez was able to concentrate exclusively on winning the race.

After swapping the fastest laps, the pair adjusted to their rhythm and Marquez waited for his moment to attack. The final laps were explosive as the 2019 MotoGP world champion launched a sweeping attack on the young French rider and continued at the start of the final lap. But it would go to the last corner, Marquez skillfully defending against Quartararo in the last corner to win the 2019 MotoGP World Championship in style.

With 325 points, nine wins, 14 podiums, nine Poles and ten fastest laps, Marc Marquez becomes MotoGP World Champion for the sixth time alongside the Repsol Honda Team and wins the eighth world championship of his career. The win is also Honda’s 150th in the MotoGP class – an achievement no other manufacturer has been able to match.

Jorge Lorenzo suffered a difficult race and couldn’t improve his feel in the hotter conditions. Lorenzo crosses the finish line in 18th and is looking forward to the next race in Japan, where he hopes to improve his current feeling and results.

The 2019 MotoGP World Champion will attend an official Repsol Honda Team press conference on Tuesday, October 8th at 9:15 am. The official press conference of the Repsol Honda team will take place at 9:15 am on the Repsol Campus, the headquarters of the energy company, at Méndez Álvaro 44 in Madrid.
