MotoGP, Brivio: “I’m sad to leave Suzuki, I’m taking on a new challenge.”

After eight years at the helm of the Suzuki Ecstar team as team manager, Davide Brivio and Suzuki have announced the end of their collaboration.

The Italian has been in the MotoGP World Championship paddock for more than 20 years and has been with Suzuki since 2013. He was team manager when Suzuki launched its new MotoGP project and stayed throughout the ascent to The Success, rounded off that year by Joan Mir’s incredible world championship crown and the teams’s championship title for the Suzuki Ecstar team.

Brivio is satisfied with the milestones that have been achieved with Suzuki, but now also wants to pursue new challenges in his professional and private life outside of MotoGP.

The Suzuki Ecstar team appreciates the work of Davide Brivio and the excellent goals that have been achieved together. The Suzuki team is now looking to the future and has its sights set on the 2021 season.

Davide Brivio said: “A Suddenly new professional challenges and opportunities came to me and in the end I decided to take them on. It was a tough decision. The hardest part will be leaving this fabulous group of people I started this project with when Suzuki got back to the championship. And it’s hard to say goodbye to all the people who have come over the years to make this great team. I’m sad from that perspective, but at the same time I’m very motivated for this new challenge – which was key when I had to choose between renewing my contract with Suzuki or starting an entirely new experience. “

“Achieving a MotoGP title will stay in the Suzuki history books and will always have a special place in my memoirs. I would like to thank the entire Suzuki management for the trust they have placed in me from the start. I would like to thank every single member of our MotoGP group in Japan and on the track, the entire Suzuki network and of course all the riders who have ridden for the team during that time, especially Joan and Alex who had a great 2020 season. “”

“Joan, who became world champion, was a dream come true for me and for all the people who worked hard and accompanied me on this great journey. I wish the Suzuki MotoGP team all the best, I hope that the results will keep getting better in the future and that I will always be a Suzuki fan. Thank you Suzuki!

Shinichi Sahara, Team Suzuki Ecstar Project Manager: “Sincerely, It was shocking news for us that Davide has left the Suzuki Ecstar team. It feels like someone has taken a part of me because I always talked to him about how to develop the team and the bikes and we worked together for a long time. In 2020, despite the unusual and difficult situation due to Covid-19, we achieved fantastic results. And 2021 will be an even more important year for us to keep the momentum going. Now let’s try to find the best way to cover the ‘Davide Loss’. Fortunately, I had a similar mindset to his for the most part so it’s not that difficult to maintain the direction we should be going as Team Suzuki Ecstar I think. We wish him the best of luck in the future. ”
