MotoGP, Iker Lecuona tested positive, excluded for Valencia

After ten days of quarantine in his Andorran home after being in close contact with his brother and assistant who tested positive for the coronavirus last week, Iker Lecuona traveled to Valencia this morning to take part in RP3 and the rest of the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Upon arrival, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider had to undergo another swab PCR test, which resulted in a positive result. As a result, Lecuona will have to miss the Valencia GP this weekend but will undergo further testing in the hopes of being able to take part in the 2020 season finals next week. Fortunately, the Spaniard shows no symptoms.

Hervé Poncharal: “Today we have sad news. Although Iker tested negative three times, the last test he took this morning at the entrance to the circuit was positive. Therefore, he cannot take part in the circuit and take part in the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana. It is also being tested to understand if it can ever fly to Portugal to compete in the final Grand Prix of the season in Portimao.
