News, farewell to Dick Mann, historic Daytona 200 Miles winner with Honda

Dick Mann, one of the most famous American racing drivers of his time, died yesterday at the age of 87.

Mann won the AMA Grand National Championship twice and was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1993 and the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998.

In Europe, Best remembered is his ability to lead the Honda CB 750 to victory in the 1970 Daytona 200 mile race, beating greats like Mike Hailwood, Gary Nixon and Gene Romero in the process.

Inspiration for many, in his white leather suit, which he wore over boxing boots and which anticipated the style put forward by Lino Dainese, an exhibition entitled was dedicated to him Super man.
