MotoGP, after Ducati, Honda goes to Yamaha aerodynamics school

In Formula 1, they are fully aware of the fact that in times of stable regulations, cars all look alike in an almost worrying way. The reason is obvious. One manufacturer interprets the regulation better than all the others and the others are destined to follow the chosen path. In MotoGP Ducati was undoubtedly the manufacturer who kept raising the bar in terms of aerodynamic design. But surely his rivals did not stand idly by as winglets of all shapes and sizes proliferated on the Desmosedici.

Honda is working hard from this point of view and yesterday Stefan Bradl launched, if only briefly, a new aerodynamic configuration that is in many ways similar to the solutions used by Yamaha. In the first test session It was Nakagami who took a revamped fairing, the concept of which was very similar to that of Ducati on its debut (read the article HERE).

Yesterday it was Bradl who took to the track – before crashing and ruining it – with a different fairing very similar to that of the Yamaha M1. In fact, the two winglets on the sides of the fairing are very similar to those on the Iwata maker’s bike, and even the clean lines of the rest of the fairing are somewhat reminiscent of Yamaha’s interpretation of this rule. Today we might see it again on the second day of testing. In this comparison photo you can see the similarity between the two configurations.
