MotoGP: Fabio Quartararo feels “positive” after an arm pump operation | F1 | Sports

French MotoGP ace Fabio Quartararo has had a successful operation and is ready to resume his title defense.

The Yamaha racer, who won in Doha and Portimao to take the championship lead early, had a nightmare in Spain but is now ready to bounce back on home soil in France.

The French Grand Prix will take place at Le Mans this weekend.

However, the race on his home track has not produced any positive results for Quartararo over the years.

His best performance in France during his Grand Prix racing career was his sixth place for the KTM team in the 2016 Moto3 race.

In his other Grand Prix appearances on home soil, Quartararo got two eighths, a ninth, an 18th and a DNF.

Despite this disappointing and painful result, Quartararo remains in good shape in the championship and goes to Le Mans, which is still in second place in the overall standings, just two points behind leader Francesco Bagnaia.

And the 22-year-old from Nice says he is fully fit again and ready to return to the sharp end of the field this weekend.

“Obviously the way we finished the Spanish GP was a shame, but the positive we get from it is that we are fast enough to fight for podiums and wins,” he said.

“I had an operation for the compartment syndrome and it was successful.

“I’ve been training since then and I’m positive about this weekend.

“Anyway, it’s always nice to go to Le Mans because it’s my home race.

“I’ll do my best to get back up there as soon as possible.”
