Joan Mir believes on the podium despite the lack of speed for Ducati and Yamaha

Joan Mir has another opportunity to score points at this Italian GP that will enable her to fight for the championship. After the first five races, last year’s champion is in sixth place with 49 points and a further 31 points difference for the leader.

In the usual Grand Prix prediction, the # 36 admits there is a top speed gap for Ducati and Yamaha, but remembers that it is also possible to showcase good performances at Mugello based on that fourth place Alex Rins has achieved for two years ago when he finished .535s from the winner.

Then the Spaniard says the team will work to sort out the tire setup and selection as quickly as possible to allow for any necessary changes.

– Mugello is a track where the Ducatis and Yamahas are often fast and our top speed may not be quite as high as theirs, but in 2019 Alex had a great race here, which means our Suzuki can be competitive too. I’m really looking forward to it, it’s such a special track – it’s fast and so nice to drive. We will focus on getting the setup and tires sorted as early as possible on the weekend so that we can then focus on getting a great result.
