Double DNF in Barcelona for Repsol Honda Team

The MotoGP paddock reached dark clouds over the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, but the rain stayed in check. After a productive warm-up in the morning, in which Pol Espargaro finished sixth and Marc Marquez eighth, the conditions for the Catalan GP were in place.

Marquez was aggressive from the start of the race, working hard to move up the rankings and not let the leaders slip away. On lap three, Marquez’s RC213V was in sixth place and looked strong. Unfortunately, a mistake at Turn 10 would cost Marquez his race as he crashed and couldn’t get back in.

Pol Espargaro had an equally difficult Grand Prix which crashed early in the race after a tough start at Turn 5. It was a disappointing end to a difficult weekend for Espargaro, who had been showing speed flashes all along.

Both riders of the Repsol Honda Team were not injured in their crashes and will be back on the track tomorrow, Monday, for a one-day test before they have a week off to recreate themselves before the German GP on June 20th focus.
