Repsol Honda – and Honda in general – are in serious trouble for the 2021 MotoGP season. The Catalunya GP was once again a reflection of that when the two riders on the official team, Marc Márquez and Pol Espargaró, fell, with Álex Márquez (LCR Honda) being the best of the RC213V quartet in 11th. Repsol Honda Team Director Alberto Puig acknowledged that there is still a lot of work to be done to find solutions and this is being done.
After this lap, where the only positive aspect was that the riders were not injured in the falls, he guaranteed maximum effort to change the situation:
- From a general point of view, one cannot find a positive point. We can only say that HRC and the team are 100 percent focused on solving these problems and finding and creating solutions for our drivers. If we talk about the falls themselves, the positive point is that both riders got away unharmed and with no consequences.
And Puig emphasized that in view of the existing shortcomings there are no excuses, but work: “Honda HRC never looks for excuses, and neither does its drivers. There is a problem, we have to solve it and we are working on it ‘.
