Motul returns to support future stars as the presenting sponsor of the MotoAmerica Mini Cup

After a very successful debut season, Motul’s Mini Cup returns in its second year with a four-lap series with six- to 14-year-old motorcycle racers

IRVINE, CA (February 26, 2021) – MotoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series, is pleased to announce that Motul is back as the presenting sponsor of the MotoAmerica Mini Cup youth racing series. The Mini Cup by Motul championship has expanded to four rounds and will again host three racing classes: 110cc, 160cc and 190cc. The bikes will be based on the specifications of the Ohvale GP-0 mini road racer.

“We were very pleased with the first season of the MotoAmerica Mini Cup by Motul,” said Lance Bryson, MotoAmerica’s Senior Sponsorship Manager. “There were a lot of registrations, great races and a family atmosphere that enriched the MotoAmerica paddock wonderfully. We are excited to announce that Motul will be back this year as the presenting sponsor of the series. You are a great partner for us, we had a lot of fun in 2020 and the 2021 season promises even more. “

All four races of the Mini Cup by Motul will be held in conjunction with the MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike Championship 2021. The Mini Cup by Motul series begins June 11-13 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, followed by round two from June 25-27 at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington. After a two-month hiatus, the series will continue with the third round at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania, August 13-15, and then the championship will conclude with the very first Mini Cup by Motul event at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, Jan. September.

A format change is new for 2021. Mini Cup by Motul racers now have the option to drive twice on each event weekend, which means that the championship now consists of eight races in each class. Practice takes place on Friday, and practice and qualifying and two main events take place on Saturday.

“The first year of the Mini Cup by Motul was a great success,” said Motul’s Marketing Manager Nolan Browning. “It was great to see the young racers fight and it’s impossible not to be impressed with their skills at such a young age. We look forward to supporting the series again in 2021 and can’t wait to start the first round of Road America in June. “
