MotoGP, thumb and ankle fractures for Martin: He needs an operation

After the first pictures of Jorge Martin’s fall in FP3 in Portimão, everyone feared that the consequences would be far worse than they actually are. The Pramac driver was taken to the nearby hospital in Faro for examination. The medical report mentions a fracture of the thumb of his right hand (first metacarpal bone) and a fracture of his ankle (ankle medial) for which he needs surgery. There is also a suspected fifth metacarpal fracture of his left hand that does not require surgery.

Martin is being operated on in Spain, but as a precaution he will be under observation in the hospital in Faro tonight, as he hit his head badly in the fall. Jorge will of course not be racing in Portimão and we will have to wait the next few days to find out if we can see him again in Jerez or if we have to wait for Le Mans.
