Sachsenring is the next stop for the Repsol Honda team

After a series of difficult races and a successful test, the German GP offers Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro the chance to apply their knowledge.

The MotoGP World Championship is returning to the Sachsenring for the first time since 2019, the 3.7 kilometer long circuit known for its tight layout and 10 left turns. In the past it has been happy hunting ground for the Repsol Honda team, who have won there every year since 2010, but the focus this year remains on improving recent results and finding the form the team is used to.

Marc Marquez has been incomparable on previous visits to the Sachsenring and has won all of his seven Grand Prix starts in the premier class for the Repsol Honda Team. Marquez is back from an injury on his most intense day of driving since his return, but knows that continuing his winning streak isn’t a priority this weekend. The goal for the weekend is to keep adjusting both his style and the Repsol Honda Team RC213V to his physical condition in order to maximize his results on the track.

The post-race test on Monday was an important day for Pol Espargaro as he and his Repsol Honda team worked to improve rear wheel grip. The unique layout of the Sachsenring is unlike any other track Espargaro has ridden the RC213V on before. Regardless of the track, Espargaro’s goal for the weekend remains the same: after several tough races, to achieve its potential. For the second half of the season it will be crucial to make gains, especially on Saturday. Espargaro made it into the top ten twice in the premier class at the Sachsenring.

The weekend begins with Free Practice 1 at 9:55 a.m. local time on Friday, June 18, with the flag falling for the 30-lap race on Sunday, June 20 at 2 p.m. local time. Immediately after the race, the Repsol Honda Team travels to Assen for the following lap.
