As second in today’s German MotoGP, Fabio Quartararo started the race day perfectly by leading the morning warm-up at the Sachsenring.
The Monster Energy Yamaha rider set off with a used hard front (10 laps) and a medium rear (22 laps) before launching a late attack.
Quartararo’s time of 1: 21.341 seconds ousted Pol Espargaro, who spent most of the session the fastest of his Honda colleague Takaaki Nakagami. The two Honda riders stayed in that order and finished 2-3.
One place behind Quartararo in today’s German Grand Prix starts Aleix Espargaro, who had to endure a tough warm-up.

The Aprilia rider first crashed at Turn 5 before going off the track on his second bike at Turn 1. However, Espargaro managed to set a time that was enough for tenth place.
Joan Mir was back in the top ten after a disastrous qualifying. The Suzuki driver has had a good race pace so far this weekend, but one lap performance still holds the world champion back.

Like me, it was a much better start to racing day for Franco Morbidelli’s and Maverick Vinales’ Yamahas.
Morbidelli was fifth fastest while Vinales was one place down in sixth. Francesco Bagnaia was the top Ducati in seventh place, while Jack Miller and Pole man Johann Zarco only came in 19th and 16th place.
Marc Marquez was eighth on board the second Honda factory machine, Jorge Martin ninth fastest.
The cooler warm-up conditions compared to most of the weekend so far could be a sign of unpredictable weather forecast for the race.
