SBK, BSB: Strong wind, cold and rain in Snetterton keep teams and drivers in the pits

Rain, wind and cold temperatures, in the English style, this is how the opening day of the official British Superbike tests can be summed up in Snetterton, home of the second stage of the so-called “BSB Test Tour 2021”, organized by the organizer MSVR. Since the early hours of the morning Adverse weather conditions in Norfolk prevented teams and drivers in the British domestic series from gaining the miles due to the delayed start of the season from June 25th to 27th. With seven hours of track time available, the vast majority of drivers stayed in the pits.

Do nothing

The last few days’ weather forecasts did not bode well, and so it turned out. It has rained heavily since Monday, and the icy cold kept the track temperatures below ten degrees. In other words: too risky and pointless to do laps in this weather. While all the BSB drivers preferred to stay in the “warmth” of the garages and devoted themselves mainly to TV activities, some of them took the opportunity to do a few laps. These were the two Dynavolt triumphs of Kyle Smith and Brandon Paasch (both involved in the British SuperSport this year), Harry Truelove (Truelove Brothers Racing), Ben Luxton on the RSV4 1100cc of the Team IN Competition Aprilia and finally David Allingham (Astro-JJR BMW).

Tomorrow the second day

If the weather permits it, tomorrow (and Thursday ..) BSB will face three different sessions of half an hour each, interspersed with sessions reserved for the supporting categories. According to the latest updates, some rain showers are expected to come down on the former RAF airport from late morning. However, significant improvements are expected for the last day of May 6th.
