MotoGP, Espargarò challenges the cold in KTM tests: “There is no point looking at the track temperature”

This morning, after almost three months, a MotoGP bike hit the track. It was the KTM RC16 and Pol Espargarò drove it through the corners of the Red Bull Ring. The Austrian manufacturer beat all others by organizing the first test after inactivity due to the restrictions due to the coronavirus. Alongside Pol, Dani Pedrosa can be seen on the Spielberg course, while Brad Binder has not yet left South Africa.

Espargarò didn’t want to waste any time and was ready to leave the garage at 9 a.m., although the temperature of 12 ° C was not ideal.

“On a day like this you don’t measure the track temperature”, KTM director Pit Beirer jokingly told Speedweek.

It’s hard to blame him because the desire to relive the emotions of a MotoGP bike is a bit uncontrollable and even Dani didn’t wait long to get to Pol.

“Hearing the engine noise is much better than spending the days studying the declining numbers of the coronavirus,” added Beirer with a smile.

Espargarò and Pedrosa will continue their tests on the Austrian track tomorrow.
