Maverick Viñales will leave Monster Energy Yamaha at the end of the season, which surprisingly became known on Monday. Rumors point to a future for the driver at Aprilia, which may be even more surprising, but Fonsi Nieto will understand if that happens.
The former rider told the AS newspaper that it was not new that Viñales and Yamaha were in a state of “upside down lights” and pointed out from experience that it is counterproductive to sit in a team and on a bike, with which one does not feel comfortable:
- That weekend everyone was talking about Maverick and moving to Aprilia. The truth is that I’ve seen a broken relationship for a long time, but not from now on. When you’re on a team that you’re not happy with and having problems, a lot of people may be thinking how to trade in a Yamaha for a worse bike. As a former driver, being in a garage, riding a bike where it’s no fun and going 360 km / h costs a lot.
