MotoGP, Suzuki uses 2020 engine: Guintoli is disqualified from FP1 and FP2

Sylvain Guintoli was disqualified from the first two free practice sessions in Motegi. The decision was made by the FIM Stewards Panel after the technical inspections of his motorcycle. Indeed, the commissioners analyzed the French driver’s engines and found that they were prototypes for the 2020 engine.

Point 2.4.6.2 of the regulations stipulates that wildcards (like Guintoli) must use the engines approved for the current season and that no changes can be made. However, Suzuki decided to try new parts, which was against the regulation.

Therefore Sylvain was disqualified from FP1 and FP2, but was able to participate in FP3 and continue the race weekend after a regulated engine was installed.
