MotoGP, Rainey back in the saddle: “I was wondering: what the hell am I doing!”

There is one video that we really have to recommend to all fans of the 500 in its golden years, the time when the Americans had the upper hand, with names like Rainey, Schwantz, Lawson, and Spencer. The years when an Australian came to the fore every now and then, such as Gardner and then Doohan. A time that brought us some of the greatest battles in motorcycle history.

Wayne Rainey is the driver who paid the highest price of the above. because an accident in Misano left him not only without using his legs, but also far from his greatest love, or rather the motorcycle. The three-time 500 world champion never got on a bike again, although technological developments made it possible a few years ago.

Rainey changed his mind, however, and this fantastic video shows his first few moments in the saddle. with a recap of the incredible adventure of returning to the track on a Yamaha, the manufacturer with whom Wayne celebrated his greatest motorcycle triumphs.

Our very own Paolo Scalera interviewed Wayne in Laguna Seca, and by this point the American obviously already knew of the wonderful surprise he was preparing for his old Italian friend and told of many of his previous adventures. And now he can tell that too.
