After triumphs for Oliveira and Gardner, KTM looks to the future

KTM is in full swing and has left the Catalan Grand Prix with a victory in MotoGP and another in Moto2 and is already thinking about the line-up for 2022 in the various categories.

After the Catalonia GP, it’s time to take stock. In MotoGP, Miguel Oliveira won and Brad Binder was in the top ten, with the Portuguese moving up to seventh in the world. In Moto2, KTM took second place for Raúl Fernandez after Remy Gardner’s victory, consolidating the Australian’s lead and Fernandez’s second place in the championship standings. In Moto3, Deniz Oncu (KTM Tech3) was on the podium together with GasGa’s “brother” Sergio García, and at the top of the championship are four drivers associated with KTM: Pedro Acosta (KTM Aki Ajo), Sergio García (GasGas ), Jaume Masiá (KTM Aki Ajo) and Romano Fenati (Husqvarna, another KTM sister brand).

If Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira seem to have their spots safe in MotoGP, it is certain that KTM is already starting to change their future lineups. Remy Gardner is leaving the Red Bull KTM Ajo to join Tech3 in the premier class and it is uncertain whether Iker Lecuona will stay on Hervé Poncharal’s team.

The Australian’s rise in class opens up a spot on Aki Ajo’s Moto2 team, and the Austrians plan to start Pedro Acosta there in 2022, where he will be paired with Raúl Fernandez.

In Moto3, Jaume Masiá and Deniz Oncu would be on the KTM Ajo team, with the Turk taking Acosta’s place, and Ayumu Sasaki would be in Tech3 with a teammate who may be from the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup or the FIM -Team remain CEV Juniors Moto3 World Championship.
